This past school year we used Sonlight curriculum for the first time. I love the fact that Sonlight is literature based. Every day I have the same routine that revolves around reading, one of my favorite things. When studying history, for example, I find it easier to learn things in a story form. It is hard for me to memorize a list of facts or events. History becomes easier and more interesting for me when put into context.

Plunk. Ka-ching!

Well, I did it. I took a deep breath and made a major change to a portion of our homeschooling for next year. For five years we have been using Tapestry of Grace as the mainframe of our homeschooling backbone. It is a literature approach to education with a classical (trivium) approach to the developmental minds of the children. With all it’s hands on activities I believe it also offers a very Charlotte Mason approach as well. One topic for all age groups studied at the depth and level of each child’s developmental stage.

Over all this has worked well for us, but . . .
the overall preparation time for me per child has become rather overwhelming. I fell way behind this year and the stress level was one of chest aching proportions. Literally. I gave up not so long ago and we have been concentrating on the three R’s plus science.
