Snow Day - a story in photos
I know we are not the only place in the country right now getting smacked with a strong winter storm; this storm is pretty much going to hit the entire country, in rain or sleet or snow form. That weather band I saw on the map was one big stripe moving across the map.
What’s so different for us, is that we live in the south. So when they said we’d be getting snow, I laughed. Out loud. Then I rolled my eyes sarcastically and wondered how many people would be rushing out to the store to get stuff or the gas station to fill up. Whatever.
This morning we were surprised to find out the weatherman was not lying, or maybe I should say he got it right this time. Getting the older two to do their school work today was a bit of a challenge; between waiting for SmockDaddy to get home from his business trip and the look in the sky of impending snow (they hoped) I finally just gave up and called it off when the sleet began. Around 10.30 the sleet began to mix with snow and then it turned completely to snow. And the flakes got big, big enough to really stick to the ground. We were all a bit excited. I decided as I watched the car get thick with ice and snow to go get Birdie and Princerella from school, whether they were closing or not (I had called and they said no they were not closing, as of yet).
By the time I got there (read: got myself out of my sweats and into some real clothes and boots) half the school had been picked up already. It was 11.30 and they had decided to close at 12.30 anyway. It was time for the bundling to begin. And as Bairno waited for me by the door to get myself bundled, he was having the time of his life watching his siblings squeal with glee.
Then the fun began.
And he tried to catch it.
While Princerella just had fun running around in it.
Then there were those pesky bigger brothers being, well, pesky and brotherly.
Prepping.
Ready.
Aim:
Fire!
All the while Birdie was too busy to care.
Too busy making her own personal snow friend.
And we must not leave out the ring leader of sneaking.
“Whatcha doin’, Goro? ”
SMACK!
