Stop! Rock and Roll!

This week at preschool is fire prevention week. Princerella’s school had some visiting firefighters and a firetruck. Oh, I wish I had known in advance enough to take CowBoy - he would have loved it!. He is still talking about the firetrucks at church a few weeks ago. Anyway, they got to get on the truck and do all kinds of things at school yesterday. I asked her when she got home what she learned. She immediately told me, “The firemans said to ‘Stop! Rock ‘n Roll!’” I said, “Do you mean, ‘Stop! Drop! and Roll!?” “Yes. Do you know that too?” I told her I learned that when I was little too. She seemed amazed by that comment; I don’t know if it was the fact that I had learned something or the fact that I was once little that amazed her. I asked her to show me Stop, Drop, and Roll and she began to dance. So I guess the firefighters that came to school decided that Stop! Rock ‘n Roll! is better.

It’s funny. Drug prevention week is usually the week before or of Halloween and the theme at the preschool where they went in Hattiesburg was always “Say Boo to Drugs!” When Birdie was in four year old preschool that same week one of her little friends was the Star Student for that week and her father came to tell about what he did for a living and read a story to the class. This little girl’s father owned a Pest Control Company and Birdie came home saying her Drug Prevention Ribbon read, “Say Boo to Bugs!” I tried to correct her, but instead was constantly corrected by her. I dropped it - it’s so not worth the pushing with a four year old, especially one who isn’t on drugs anyway. :-P
